There are few people who would willingly wake up before the crack of dawn to go to the beach – and thousands of them appeared a few weeks ago at the 30th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon Presented By Equinox. Over one million dollars were raised for the Pediatric Cancer Research Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Some familiar faces also competed among the crowd, and most notably for me were a few from the How to Get Away with Murder cast. Rachel Platten opened up before the race with the National Anthem and Fight Song.
The full course consists of a half mile ocean swim, an 18 mile bike ride, and a 4 mile run. My friend, Nikki, invited me out to take photos for Paramount Pictures’ Triathlon Team, one of the groups competing in the Entertainment Industry Challenge. While I had not come prepared with a wetsuit or bike, I at least had my running shoes on, as running around to take photos is somewhat of a workout in itself.
